As the district moves through a facility planning process, this work includes looking at strategies being used or considered by other school districts across the state.

Please indicate if you consider the efficiency strategies below to be appealing or not appealing.

  Not Appealing Appealing
Reorganization of grade levels to move 8th-grade students to the high schools and create one 6th- and 7th-grade middle school
Additional consolidation of two-section elementary schools
Consolidation from three to two middle schools
Reorganization of existing schools to create one high school and one middle school

Question Title

* 6. Consolidation from three to two middle schools continues to be a strong opportunity for creating cost efficiencies while also ensuring that all students have access to high-quality middle school facilities.

Looking at the Washington Middle School site as the location, the district could build a completely new middle school or renovate and add on to the existing building. The cost to build new would be approximately 10-15% more than to renovate, while the time to renovate would be one to two years longer to complete than to build new.

On the scale below, where the left side means you would prefer a completely new middle school and the right side means you would prefer a renovated middle school with an addition, please indicate your preference.

Completely New Middle School Renovated Middle School With Addition
